Stay and Pray on World Kindness Day
Today, the Woodpecker class welcomed their families into school for a special stay and pray session to celebrate World Kindness Day. Together, we closed our eyes and listened to the story of the Good Samaritan, taking time to reflect on the power and importance of kindness in our daily lives.
It was a calm, thoughtful and prayerful moment to share as a community. Thank you to all the families who joined us — your presence made it even more meaningful.

A little bit (or huge downpour!) of rain didn’t stop our amazing Y4 children from having a wonderful time at Forest School today! They worked together to build shelters, shared smiles, and showed so much kindness and teamwork throughout the day. As part of Anti-Bullying Week, it’s been lovely to see everyone supporting one another — proving that even on the rainiest days, a little teamwork and friendship can make the biggest difference.

Remembrance Service at Saint Augustine's High School
Some of our Year 4 children visited Saint Augustine’s High School to take part in a special Remembrance service. They represented our school beautifully and showed great respect throughout. A special well done for reading the bidding prayers so reverently. We are so proud of you.

Year 4 had a fantastic morning on Monday, visiting the historic Roman town of Droitwich Spa!
The children explored the beautiful Church of the Sacred Heart and St Catherine of Alexandria and were amazed by the stunning mosaic artwork that tells so many wonderful stories. They also had the chance to create their very own mosaic tiles with the help of the amazing church volunteers. A big thank you to everyone at the church for making our visit so special!

DT - How To Make Pasties
Woodpecker Class have been learning all about how pasties are made! The children carefully ordered pictures showing each step of the pasty-making process, thinking carefully about what happens at every stage.
They explored recipes in detail – spotting imperative verbs, time adverbials, and organisational features such as bullet points and headings. Using everything they had learned, they then wrote their very own sets of instructions for making a pasty.
It’s safe to say that everyone was feeling very hungry by the end of the lesson!

Year 4 had great fun modelling the digestive process this week! Using everyday items like scissors, tights, and tubes (and a bit of mess!), the children explored how different parts of the digestive system work together to break down food. It was a hands-on, memorable way to understand what happens inside our bodies!

Spellings - Week 6 - Challenge Words - Quiz on 17.10.25
The Woodpeckers have been learning about Roman numerals in maths. Using matchsticks, they created numerals to represent numbers up to 100. This activity helped link their maths learning with their history topic on the Romans — a fun and creative way to bring the past to life!

Blackwell Adventure
What an incredible day our Year 4 children had at Blackwell Adventure! From crate stacking and archery to climbing and tree trekking, they threw themselves into every activity with enthusiasm and determination.
We were blown away by their courage and willingness to step out of their comfort zones — conquering fears, encouraging one another, and always striving to do their best.
The support they showed each other was truly heartwarming, and the way they celebrated everyone’s achievements made us so proud.
Well done, Year 4 — you were absolutely amazing!

Spellings - Week 5 - Prefix 'inter' Quiz on - 10.10.25
Spellings - Week 4 - Prefix 'sub' - Quiz on 03.10.25
This week, the Woodpeckers stepped into the past, exploring the lives of the Celts and Romans. They imagined what it was like to be a Celt spotting Roman invaders coming over the horizon.
Inspired by what they learned, they created their own warriors and shields to represent both sides. Brilliant work, everyone!

This week the Woodpeckers have been exploring the story of Jacob's Dream and reflecting on its meaning. To deepen their understanding, they looked at how different artists have represented the story. Inspired by what they saw, the children then created their own wonderful interpretations. The results were creative and thought-provoking. Well done, Woodpeckers - fantastic work!

After a discussion about how we are all made in the image and likeness of God, the Woodpeckers explored newspapers to find examples of people showing respect, care and consideration for others and the world, as well as moments when these were not shown. It was a meaningful way to connect faith with real world events and reflect on how we are called to live out God's love every day.

Week 2 - Dictation Spellings - 19.09.25
The Woodpeckers explored the different types of teeth by looking at their own then learning their names, shapes, and functions – from biting incisors to grinding molars! After testing how their teeth work by munching on apples, they put their knowledge to the test by creating fantastic plasticine models. A brilliant hands-on way to learn about how our teeth help us every day!

Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended one of our Curriculum Workshops. We hope you found them informative and we appreciate your support. Here are the slides we used if you were unable to attend or would like another look.
