Hedgehog's have been using the pastels to design the background for their space pictures. The pastels have made the effect of different Galaxys in the distance. We think they look amazing.

We found out about the incredible story of Galileo and his groundbreaking telescope. They crafted their own moons using salt dough to show Galileo's discovery that surface of the moon is covered in craters and mountains. To top it off, each child created a paper telescope in order to view their moon just like Galileo. This fun and educational experience not only deepened their understanding of History and Science but also inspired a love for exploration and discovery.
We have been exploring the enchanting world of symmetry with a variety of resources. They used mirrors to find the lines of symmetry in 2D shapes (and check their teeth were clean!) and created symmetrical patterns using pegs boards. This gave great opportunities for creativity as well as improving fine motor control and determination.
We have been working hard to get a range of textures and depths of colours for our collage solar system picture. We used tinfoil which we scrunched up, painted and then printed onto paper to make a patterend effect.
We have been continuing our art collage by creating patterns with oil pastels. |We rubbed the colours together to merge the colours.
We have been using the marbling ink in class to start our art work for our planets collage. We think these will look fantastic as the Earth for our solar system pictures.
We have been making different representations of numbers and then creating the correct 'greater than' or 'less than' symbols to use between them. Sometimes our representations were 'equal' too! Can you work out what numbers are being represented?
The Hedgehogs have been exploring globes and maps by looking at the five oceans. It was fascinating to see our Earth represented in different ways and imagine we were astronauts working out where to land!
Noah's Ark
We have been learning about the story of Noah's Ark during RE. We retold the story in our own words, drew our own pictures of Noah, his ark and the animals on board. Look how fantastic they are!
Beegu Is Lost
This week we have been writing lost posters to help find Beegu's family.

elcome Back and welcome to the Hedgehogs Class!
We have begun the year by thinking about how we can be happy and safe 'Hedgehogs' by following our school rules. Have a look at our lovely artwork spreading lots of hedgehog kindness!
KS1 all worked together to create a fabulous production of 'It's a Baby!'. There was super acting, amazing singing and a very catchy hand jive! What a memorable way to tell the Christmas story! Well done everyone!
Hedgehogs had a great time making their delicious sandwiches. They had even more fun eating them!
The Hedgehogs practised measuring with non-standard units by using everyday objects like paper clips and cubes. The children thoroughly enjoyed comparing the size of different objects using this way of measuring and showed the need for accuracy. Patience, teamwork and resilience were also required for measuring some of the larger items! How many paperclips do you think would fit along the length of a desk?!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for some festive craft at our Christmas workshop!
As we prepare for Advent, the Hedgehogs have created their own Advent wreath. Through this hands-on activity, they’ve learned about the significance of the Advent season, the meaning behind each of the candles, and the traditions that make this time of year special. The children worked together to craft a unique wreath that we can enjoy in the classroom throughout the Advent season.
We really enjoyed our morning getting to taste different types of bread during our DT topic. We tried white bread, brown bread, pitta bread and wraps. some were more of a hit than others. We will be using the information from what we tasted today to help design a healthy sandwich.
This week we started reading a book called 'The Boy Who Sailed the World' by Julia Green and Alex Latimer. The children really enjoyed this story and all worked hard to create some amazing story maps focussing on the boys feelings.
We had a lovely day celebrating Children In Need. The children enjoyed dressing in their own clothes, moving to some pudsey movements, making images with coins and creating pudsey pictures.
As part of anti-bullying week, the Hedgehogs thought about people who had been kind to them. We then created a paperchain of ideas of how we can be kind to others.
What an odd bunch we are today! Just like our socks, we are all different, yet all the same. As aprt of anti-bullying week, we thought about what we can celebrate that makes us different from each other but also the ways that we are all the same.
Thank you to all the parents and carers who joined the Hedgehogs this week for their Prayer and Liturgy session. We were overwhelmed with the amazing turn out! Some children acted out the story of 'The Widow's Offering' and considered what this teaches us about giving to others. We then thought about what we can do to show we have learnt from this story and completed hearts to remind to to put these ideas into action.
In Hedgehogs class we kick started our DT topic by looking at healthy eating. We have looked at how foods are grouped together and what makes a healthy meal. Then we designed our own healthy dinner plate making sure it had fruit, vegetables, protein and carbohydrates. Well done hedgehogs!
Hedgehogs have been getting hands-on with geometry by using Blu-Tack to explore 3D shapes! In this engaging activity, children used Blu-Tack to mark and count the vertices of each shape. This fun, interactive exercise helped them better understand the properties of 3D shapes while developing their fine motor skills.
We hope you all had a fantastic half-term break, full of fun, rest and maybe even a few adventures! This term, we’re diving back into our space explorations—get ready to discover even more about astronauts past and present! Plus, as the days get shorter and a little more twinkly, we’ll be starting to think about Advent and all the joys of the Christmas season. And of course, one of the most exciting parts… our Christmas play! We can’t wait to see everyone bring their characters to life and make this year’s performance a truly magical experience.
