The Year 3 class recently visited St. Peter's Church to learn about the significance of Baptism. The children participated in a reenactment of the ceremony, gaining insight into its meaning and symbols. They enjoyed seeing the Font, a Baptismal candle and playing the role of Parents and Godparents.
What a fantastic day Year 3 had stepping back in time at the Black Country Museum.
From the moment we arrived, dressed in our finest Victorian outfits, the magic began. The children looked like they had walked straight out of history with their bonnets, waistcoats, and shawls! We explored cobbled streets, visited traditional shops, and even experienced a real Victorian classroom—chalkboards, strict teachers, and all!
The children were curious, engaged, and absolutely loved immersing themselves in the past.
It’s safe to say we all came away with newfound knowledge, smiles, and maybe even a few Victorian manners! A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the unforgettable.
In Year 3, we have been learning about Light and Dark in our Science lessons. We took on a thrilling Science investigation by exploring a ‘dark’ tent! We used our senses to identify hidden objects, and the children discovered something crucial: we can't see in the dark because darkness is simply the absence of light.
Great job to our young scientists for their curiosity and teamwork!
In Badgers class, we went on a creation walk to see the wonderful things God made.We drew pictures of the amazing creations we saw along the way. Our drawings were full of the beauty we experienced during the walk.
Welcome to Year 3 Badgers Class! We're thrilled to start an exciting academic year with you. Our first topic will be all about the Victorians where we will explore what life was like in this fascinating period of history. Get ready for a journey back in time as we uncover the secrets of Victorian inventions, schools and daily life. We can't wait to learn and grow with you all this year. Above you'll find the knowledge organisers that outline what your child will be learning about this term.

Science Knowledge Organiser - Forces and Magnets
Christmas Artwork
We have been busy making our very own batik Christmas baubles. Carefully, we used hot wax inside a canting to draw our very own bauble design. When they were dry, we added bright colours to finish them off. The results are absolutely fantastic, and the children can’t wait to take them home to hang on their Christmas trees.
Christmas Crafts Workshop
A huge THANK YOU to all the wonderful Year 3 parents who joined us for the Christmas Craft Workshop! It was fantastic to see such great perseverance, especially when tackling the tricky Christmas wreaths with green wool and pom poms! The children had so much fun and all of the creations look absolutely fab! Your creativity and support made this morning very special, and we’re so grateful for the time you spent with us.
Science
In Science, we have been exploring which materials are magnetic and which aren't! We tested a variety of objects and discovered that metals like iron and steel were magnetic, while wood, plastic, and rubber didn’t respond at all to the magnet.

PE - Orienteering
This half term in PE we have been learning all about Orienteering. During one lesson we combined PE with Maths focusing on ordering 3-digit numbers. It was a great way to get everyone moving while practising our place value skills.
The children had a blast navigating the course and solving the challenges along the way. Well done, Badgers!
Victorian Art
We have created stunning sunset silhouettes featuring the Victorian mines as their backdrop. Each piece is a beautiful blend of creativity and history, capturing the essence of our local heritage. We’re so proud of their hard work and imagination!
We received a mysterious delivery in an old, tattered suitcase! Inside, we found a letter from Og, a Stone Age traveller, along with some incredible artifacts – a hand-crafted spear, a piece of flint, and other ancient tools!
Og, who says he’s lived alongside mammoths and sabre tooth tigers, also told us all about the cave art that Stone Age people used to create. Inspired by his stories, we all had a go at recreating our own cave art for our classrooms! The results are amazing – we have our own little piece of prehistory right here!
We were absolutely captivated by Og’s tales and we can’t wait to explore more about the Stone Age.
We’re kicking off the Spring term with an exciting new topic – the Stone Age! Get ready to journey back in time to explore prehistoric era. We will be learning about early human history and discovering how people lived and survived. From ancient cave art to early tools, we’ll be digging into history like never before. It’s going to be a wild and wonderful adventure – stay tuned!
