During History, Badgers class have been learning all about Stonehenge as part of our Stone Age topic. We discovered fascinating facts about this ancient monument — how it was built thousands of years ago and the mystery that still surrounds its purpose.
To bring our learning to life, we used playdough to create our very own mini Stonehenges! The children showed fantastic creativity and teamwork as they shaped and arranged the stones, thinking carefully about their placement just like the original builders might have done. Well done, Badgers!
Year 3 visited our church to meet Father Benedict as part of our RE topic on belonging. He spoke to us about what it means to be a priest and answered our thoughtful questions, such as “How can I be more like you?”, “What do you enjoy about being a priest?” and even “Do you have a chance to be the Pope?”. Father Benedict also gave us the special opportunity to re-enact a baptism, helping us understand the importance of this sacrament in welcoming someone into God’s family. A huge well done to Year 3 for showing such respect and thoughtfulness during the visit, and a heartfelt thank you to Father Benedict for his time, kindness and inspiring answers.
To begin our PE lesson, Badgers class took part in a fun warm-up called the Washing Machine Game. In this activity, the children pretended to be different items of clothing—like socks, t-shirts, or trousers—and performed stretches that matched how those clothes might move in a washing machine. It was a playful and imaginative way to warm up muscles, improve flexibility, and prepare the body for physical activity, all while encouraging creativity and focus. The children had lots of fun!
During gymnastics, the Badgers explored different types of jumps, focusing on control, coordination, and safe landings. The children practiced basic jumping techniques such as straight jumps, tuck jumps, star jumps, and half turns. They learned to take off and land with bent knees, feet together, and arms helping with balance and momentum.
The lesson included warm-up activities to encourage the children to stretch the muscles they would use in the lesson. They all demonstrated great physical confidence, spatial awareness, and enjoyment through movement. Well done Badgers!
As part of the introduction to their new topic, Stone Age, the Badgers have been learning all about cave drawings and how they have allowed us to know what life was like during the Stone Age. In groups, the children worked together to create some amazing cave art, mimicking how it would have appeared back in that time period. Using chalk and different techniques, such as smudging and blending, the finished results are absolutely amazing! Well done, Badgers! You are super artists!
We were delighted to welcome our Year 3 parents and carers into school for a curriculum meeting. It was a great opportunity to share key information about the year ahead, explain how we support learning in the classroom, and answer any questions. Thank you to everyone who came along to support their child as they begin their exciting Year 3 journey.
We are so excited to welcome our brand new Year 3 Badgers back to school!
This year will be full of learning, fun and adventures as we continue our journey together in Key Stage 2.
In Badgers Class, we always try our best, look after one another, and enjoy discovering new things every day. With the guidance of Miss Whitehead and Mrs Cole, and the support of Miss Sproule, we know this year will be filled with amazing work, creativity, and kindness.
Here’s to a brilliant year ahead—let’s make it one to remember!
