Our Year 3's have been learning about Mary Seacole as part of Black History Month. They explored her inspiring life and created a vibrant poster to celebrate her incredible contributions to history.
During Foxes Prayer and Liturgy we thought about 'Harvest'. The children thought about why the harvest period is important and we thought about items of food we can donate to those who may have less than us.
This is the prayer we created:
Dear God,
Thank you for all the food we have. We are grateful for the farmers who help. Thank you for the sunshine and rain that helps crops grow. Please remind us to share what we have with others and to be thankful for what we recieve. Amen.
Year 3 had an exciting History lesson learning about Victorian toys! They even got hands-on, making their own cup and ball toys using paper cups, string, and tinfoil. It was great fun bringing the past to life!
The Year 3 class recently visited St. Peter's Church to learn about the significance of Baptism. The children participated in a reenactment of the ceremony, gaining insight into its meaning and symbols. They enjoyed seeing the Font, a Baptismal candle and playing the role of Parents and Godparents.
The Foxes Class have finished their Victorian artwork- they are wonderful!
The Foxes class have been busy using watercolour paints to create a sunset. In the next few days, they will be using black card to create a silhouette of Victorian factories and a winding gear machine that was used to lift carts of coal from the mines. As you can see, we are in the early stages of finishing them- Please come back soon to see their finished artwork!
What a fantastic two days we have had working with Karen from Little Litter Warriors. We have learnt so much about litter and the impact it has on our world. The children embraced their role as stewards of God's creation, by collecting litter on school grounds. They were astonished by how much was collected- they found over 300 pieces of litter!
Exciting learning in Year 3! Today, our young artists explored abstract art inspired by the legendary Piet Mondrian. Not only did they unleash their creativity, but they also dove deep into the world of place value, representing numbers up to 1000 through their vibrant creations. Each colorful block and line they made not only showcases their artistic flair but also reflects their understanding of how numbers can be broken down and represented visually. It’s amazing to see math come to life through art! Can you work out the number they are representing?
In Science, the Foxes class used UV beads to learn about sun safety! When inside, our beds were clear, however when we help them up to the light, they changed colour! The children learnt that even if it is a cloudy day, the UV light can still reach our skin!
What a fantastic day Year 3 had stepping back in time at the Black Country Museum.
From the moment we arrived, dressed in our finest Victorian outfits, the magic began. The children looked like they had walked straight out of history with their bonnets, waistcoats, and shawls! We explored cobbled streets, visited traditional shops, and even experienced a real Victorian classroom—chalkboards, strict teachers, and all! The children were curious, engaged, and absolutely loved immersing themselves in the past. It’s safe to say we all came away with newfound knowledge, smiles, and maybe even a few Victorian manners! A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the unforgettable.

This Anti-Bullying Week, we began celebrating what makes us all unique by wearing odd socks! Just like our socks, each of us is different, and that’s something to be proud of. By wearing odd socks, we're showing that we stand together against bullying and that we respect everyone’s right to be themselves. Let's make our class a place where kindness, respect, and friendship are the perfect match!
Foxes class had a fantastic time tuning into the BBC 2024 Live Lesson for Anti-Bullying Week! This year’s focus was all about Respect—exploring what it means, how to show it, and why it’s so important in our daily lives. Watching the lesson together sparked meaningful discussions and gave us all a chance to think about ways to make our school a kinder, more respectful place for everyone.
Year 3 had an exciting orienteering adventure! Equipped with maps and their teamwork skills, they set off to find the hidden numbers. Each location had a coloured cone that matched their map, and next to each cone was a number they needed to collect. The challenge was to navigate through the course, gather all the numbers, and then add them up to reveal the final answer. It was a fun and active way to practice their map reading and math skills!
In Foxes Class, we have been thinking about Remembrance Day and what it means to remember those who sacrificied their life for our country. The children wrote their own special prayers, sharing wishes for peace, kindness, and a world without fighting.
We had an amazing time designing and making our own jack-in-the-box toys using air power! We built a pneumatic system, learning how air can make things move up and down. With a little pump, we could make our surprise toy pop up just like a real jack-in-the-box. It was so exciting to see our creations come to life.
