Year 3 visited our church to meet Father Benedict as part of our RE topic on belonging. He spoke to us about what it means to be a priest and answered our thoughtful questions, such as “How can I be more like you?”, “What do you enjoy about being a priest?” and even “Do you have a chance to be the Pope?”. Father Benedict also gave us the special opportunity to re-enact a baptism, helping us understand the importance of this sacrament in welcoming someone into God’s family. A huge well done to Year 3 for showing such respect and thoughtfulness during the visit, and a heartfelt thank you to Father Benedict for his time, kindness and inspiring answers.
Foxes Class explored using H and B pencils to test different gradients, noticing how each pencil creates lighter or darker tones. They also practised a range of shading techniques to add texture and depth to their artwork.
Foxes Class have been busy exploring numbers using place value counters. They practised finding 100, 10 and 1 more or less of different numbers, using the counters to help them see how the value of each digit changes.
Year 3 Foxes have been busy writing diary entries inspired by Stone Age Boy. They stepped into the role of Om, describing what it was like to first meet the strange-looking boy, noticing his unusual appearance, and deciding to take him back to her village. The children used lots of detail and imagination to bring Om’s thoughts and feelings to life.
Year 3 Foxes have decorated the front covers of their sketchbooks, ready to begin our exciting Stone Age topic! They used earthy colours and cave art style drawings to give their books a prehistoric look.
In maths, Year 3 Foxes have been busy representing numbers to 100 in lots of different ways. They explored place value using drawings, equipment and number sentences to show their understanding!
Foxes Class stepped back in time this week to the Stone Age! The children learnt about why Stone Age people created cave art and the natural materials they used to make their paints. They then had a go at making their own, experimenting with chalk to recreate shapes, symbols and animals, producing some amazing artwork that looked just like it had been discovered on a cave wall!
We were delighted to welcome our Year 3 parents and carers into school for a curriculum meeting. It was a great opportunity to share key information about the year ahead, explain how we support learning in the classroom, and answer any questions. Thank you to everyone who came along to support their child as they begin their exciting Year 3 journey.
We are so excited to welcome our brand new Year 3 Foxes back to school!
This year will be full of learning, fun and adventures as we settle into Key Stage 2 together.
In Foxes class, we always try our best, look after one another, and enjoy discovering new things every day. We can’t wait to see all the amazing work, creativity, and kindness you will bring to the classroom.
Here’s to a brilliant year ahead—let’s make it one to remember!
