The Dragonflies loved exploring their senses. They were very good at using their sense of smell to identify different things, they all got chocolate correct!
The Dragonflies have continued working on their space collages throughout the term. They loved flicking paint to make their galaxy backgrounds. We ended up with a few blue faces!
The Dragonflies had a great time learning about Galileo! After exploring his discoveries, they made salt dough moons, trying hard to make the craters and mountains Galileo saw. They even got to use a telescope themselves. No stars, it was daytime, but they had fun zooming in on the berries in the tree outside!
The Dragonflies have been programming Beebots in Computing this week. They loved the challenge of programming Beebot to make different shapes. Great team work!
Karen from the Little Litter Warriors came to visit St. Peter's and helped us to understand the impact of littering on our environment. The Dragonflies embraced their role as stewards of God's creation, going out to collect litter and learning about the importance of recycling. We're pleased to report that for the recycling activity, we had to bring in some extra litter, as there wasn't much to be found on our playground! Great work, Dragonflies!
The Dragonflies have been learning about inequality symbols. They rolled two dice, built the amounts using cubes, counters and Numicon and then used lollipop sticks to create the correct inequality symbols. Fabulous hands on learning and great partner work
The Dragonflies took their imaginations to space! Inspired by the book ‘Man on the Moon’, they role-played as tour guides like Bob. As they showed tourists around the moon, they shared cool moon facts, pretended to float in low gravity, explored craters and pointed out Earth in the distance.
The Dragonflies have started creating their own space collages! They are experimenting with different mediums to create unique effects before they make their planets and start assembling their collages. Today, they used oil pastels.
The Dragonflies have been exploring space through dance! We've been pretending to be robots, helping to build a space rocket, and moving around as if we're on the moon. We even tried "hammering" our flag into the lunar surface!
The Dragonflies have been learning about the story of Noah's Ark. They have worked with a partner to draw animals for the ark.
After their first full week back at school, the Dragonflies enjoyed Golden Time as a celebration of their hard work.

The Dragonflies have been busy labelling parts of the body with sticky notes. They were encouraged to think of as many body parts as possible, both inside and out, and write the labels themselves. We were so impressed by their enthusiasm and knowledge – one child even labelled the 'palm'! Great work Dragonflies!
We're over the moon to have you with us this year. Get ready for an *out of this world* adventure as we blast off into our new topic: "Space and the World Around Us!" It's going to be a stellar year full of fun, learning and cosmic discoveries. So, buckle up, Dragonflies – we're in for a supernova of excitement!
This week we have been thinking about the theme, 'Choose Respect'. We wore odd socks to show that we are all unique and different.
On World Kindness Day we thought about ways we can be kind to others and to ourselves. We then drew our ideas on to our very own Kindness Tree.
In our topic lesson, the Dragonflies acted out the moon landing. They learnt about Apollo 11 blasting off into space with Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins aboard. We watched video footage of the launch and thought about how they might have been feeling at different stages in the mission. We discussed Neil Armstrong's words “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” and what they meant.
We hope you all had a fantastic half-term break, full of fun, rest and maybe even a few adventures! This term, we’re diving back into our space explorations—get ready to discover even more about astronauts past and present! Plus, as the days get shorter and a little more twinkly, we’ll be starting to think about Advent and all the joys of the Christmas season. And of course, one of the most exciting parts… our Christmas play! We can’t wait to see everyone bring their characters to life and make this year’s performance a truly magical experience.
